GROTON: Village Theatre Project has announced auditions for its upcoming Young Company production of the popular musical, “Children of Eden.” Auditions will be held November 13 and 15, 6:00-9:00pm at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School. The musical will begin rehearsal on December 4 and perform at the High School’s black-box theatre February 22-25, 2007.
Village Theatre’s Artistic Director, Christopher Chew, will co-direct with guest artist Corey Jackson; Company member Laura D. DeGiacomo will choreograph. Chew, who supervises the theatre’s youth programs, has developed highly successful theatre programs at Stoneham Theatre and for the Chelmsford schools, and currently teaches theatre at Tyngsboro high school. “We’re excited about this production,” comments Chew, “because it’s contemporary and hip with a great score; and unlike a typical chorus musical, it has an ensemble cast that gives a lot of different roles a chance to shine.
“Children of Eden” will rehearse at the black-box theatre at Groton-Dunstable High School Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and Saturdays 10:00am – 1:00pm, beginning December 4. Performances will be February 22, 23, 24 and 25. Younger cast members, ages 8-11, will rehearse on Saturdays only until February. Production fee, if cast, will be $140 for the twelve weeks ($100 for ages 8-11).Auditions are scheduled on Monday November 13 and Wednesday November 15, 6:00 – 9:00pm, with Thursday November 16 reserved for callbacks, if required, at the same times.
Auditioners should prepare a short song from contemporary musical theatre, preferably not from “Children of Eden.” To make an audition appointment or for more information, call (978) 456-7898 or email auditions@thevtp.org; or visit the theatre’s website at www.thevtp.org.
