Village
Theatre Project's Young Company
presents Children of Eden
February 4, 2007
Village Theatre
Project, the Nashoba Valley ’s only professional theatre
company, proudly announces its upcoming Young Company production
of the popular musical comedy, “Children of Eden.”
From Stephen Schwartz (“Godspell” and “Pippin”)
and John Caird of “Les Misérables,” this joyous
and inspirational musical, freely based on the story of Genesis,
is a heartfelt and humorous examination of the age-old conflict
between parents and children... not to mention centuries of unresolved
family business! Performances will run February 21 through 25
at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School .
The Young Company, Village Theatre Project’s youth theatre
education program, has tripled in size over the past year under
the direction of Co-Artistic Director Christopher Chew, who co-directs
“Children of Eden” with Corey Jackson. “We’ve
got forty-six kids in this show,” said Chew, “and
we couldn’t be happier with this group – it’s
a great show to do with a big group, and we’ve really been
able to bring it to a higher level of professionalism than many
of the kids have experienced before.” Professionalism has
been the mark of distinction for the theatre’s youth ensemble;
drawing directors, instructors and others from the theatre’s
23 member ensemble of Boston and New York based professional theatre
artists.
The talented cast includes Pepperell residents Joe Smith and Susie
Creamcheese. VTP Company member Laura D. DeGiacomo will choreograph;
Steven Hemingway will music direct. The design team includes Austin
Sharpe (Scenery), Karen Perlow (Lighting) and Allison Szklarz
(Costumes).
Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 students/seniors, $8 for
groups of 10 or more. Performance times and directions are available
at the theatre’s website, www.thevtp.org. For more information
or to purchase tickets email tickets@thevtp.org or call (978)
