The
Ashby Retreat
The Ashby Retreat '07 was a resounding success! For our third
year in a row, we dedicated this summer week both to new play
development, and to reconnecting with each other as a company.
The first part of the week was set aside for discussing internal
company issues and planning our way forward. Thank you to the
Ashby Congregational Church, as well as the Catalinis, Peelers
and Swenors, for housing and feeding our participants in the
lovely hamlet of Ashby!
For the rest of the retreat, we moved to the town of Harvard,
where we were kindly hosted by Keith and Mary Helan Turner at
the Friendly Crossways Retreat Center. This segment of the retreat
was devoted to new play development, both of our spring musical,
tentatively now titled A Karaoke Rhapsody, and work-shopping
a play called What Time Is It? By Vladimir Zelevinsky.
We were energized by the collaborative process as both plays
moved forward by leaps and bounds. The retreat also gave us the
opportunity to recharge and get excited about our upcoming season.
